Batteries, batteries, batteries!

We have or hear of very few issues with the thousands of FrontRow systems that we have out here in the northeast of the US. When we do hear of an issue or concern 90% of those issues are fixed by the FrontRow microphones simply getting new FrontRow batteries. It's important to replace the official FrontRow rechargeable microphone batteries (and NOT use NON FrontRow batteries) when they are done(doesn't hold a charge well anymore)! The round blue or white batteries for older microphones for the ToGo and Pro Digital systems lasts around one year whereas the new square Juno style microphone batteries lasts around two years.

My FrontRow Pro Digital soundfield system goes to sleep while playing audio/video. What's wrong?

The FrontRow Pro Digital system is set by design to go to sleep after 10-15 minutes if it’s not being used or can't "hear" a sound signal. You cannot change that on a Pro Digital (on a Juno system this can be "fixed" via a firmware upgrade from FrontRow). This is not a concern with normal microphone usage. The only time we see it to be an “issue” is when using the system to stream i.e. a video with sound from a computer. In those cases, please refer to below:

Please make sure that everything concerning sound is turned up high on the computer you are playing media from through the FrontRow Pro Digital system: The computer volume itself, the video/audio software volume must be turned up (i.e. Windows Media Player or the YouTube player) etc. Then use the Pro Digital amplifier to control the volume up and down later as you need to adjust the volume for your room (while leaving the computer on high volume). Now the amplifier will NOT turn off or go to sleep anymore as the amplifier/receiver is "hearing" a loud signal from the computer (the power button will no longer be going to yellow/orange on the newer blue FrontRow Pro Digital receivers).

Below are common troubleshooting issues for the Pro Digital system. For more help, scroll down for support contact information.

I’m not getting reception on my Pro Digital — the channel lights on the receiver are red. What’s wrong?

Check the batteries in your microphone and make sure that they are fresh and working.
Recharge transmitter’s/mic batteries if low battery indicator shows. Replace batteries if a recharge is ineffective (use official FrontRow batteries).
Check that the transmitter/mic is on and is un-muted.
Verify that you are not blocking either the emitters (dark red plastic part) on the transmitter/mic or the sensors on the receiver or the sensors mounted around the room.
If reception is interrupted when facing a certain direction, install an additional sensor in that area of the room.
If team-teaching, verify that transmitters/microphones are not on the same channel (A/B).

I’m getting feedback on my Pro Digital (squealing) — how can I minimize this?

Make sure that speakers are mounted as close as possible to both the ceiling (min. 8" below the ceiling) and the listeners; avoid mounting speakers in the teacher’s primary lecture area.
Position the microphone closer to your mouth.
Lower the Mic Volume control(s) on the receiver.
Select the Low or Medium OptiVoice setting on the receiver.

There’s no sound coming out of the Pro Digital speakers (or it’s weak).

Verify that the receiver is on (green power light).
Verify that the receiver is picking up a signal (green channel indication light) if you are testing using microphones.
Increase the Mic Volume or Aux Volume control(s) on the receiver.
Position the microphone closer to your mouth.
Verify that the speaker cables / IR cables are connected properly in the speakers and in the receiver.
Verify that the transmitter/mic is not muted.

My Pro Digital receiver won’t turn on — the power light is off. What should I do?

Verify that the power supply is plugged into both the receiver and a working wall outlet.
Test with another power supply from a Pro Digital, if possible.
If the power light turns yellow, then the receiver is in standby mode and is awaiting a microphone or AUX signal.
The receiver will turn on automatically when: – You turn on and/or un-mute a microphone – You turn on an audio source connected to the receiver.
Note: The receiver will power down automatically when it does not detect a microphone or audio input for more than 10 minutes.

How can I eliminate ’dead spots’ or microphone crackling / noise on my Pro Digital system?

Verify that you are not blocking either the emitters (dark red plastic part) on the transmitter/mic or the sensors on receiver or the sensors that are mounted around the room.
If reception is interrupted when facing a certain direction, install an additional sensor in that area of the room.
If team-teaching, verify that transmitters/mics are not on the same channel (A/B).
Recharge or replace the transmitter’s/mic batteries (use official FrontRow batteries).
Verify that the emitter/mic is working (Test with another working emitter/mic if possible).
